Cristela and Wizards of Waverly Place alumna Maria Canals-Barrera has booked a series regular role opposite Jane Seymour in CMT’s soapy, comedic pilot His Wives and Daughters. Created and produced by Dina Chapman and Steve Sessions, the project centers on the eclectic and cunning wives and daughters of larger-than-life country music legend (and infamous womanizer) Eddie Ray Banks (Jeff Kober). After his estranged family is brought together unexpectedly, tempers flare and old rivalries resurface, setting the stage for startling secrets to emerge as an unforgettable mystery begins to unfold. Canals-Barrera will play Magdalena Guzman, Eddie’s housekeeper and personal assistant for nearly 30 years. She’s been his loyal confidante through multiple marriages and may know him better than anyone else, and also is hiding a big secret. Canals-Barrera guest-stars tomorrow on The Big Bang Theory. She’s repped by APA and Teitelbaum Artists Group.

Isaiah John (Barbershop: The Next Cut) has joined the series regular cast of FX’s Snowfall, John Singleton’s drama inspired by the early days of the crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles in the early 1980s. Written/executive produced by Boyz N The Hood director Singleton and Eric Amadio, the series is a one-hour drama set against the infancy of the crack cocaine epidemic and its ultimate radical impact on the culture as we know it. John’s credits include Hulu’s When The Street Lights Go On and Barbershop 3: The Next Cut. He’s repped by Artists Media Group and RBJ Talent Management.
