Obama: Candidate Upset By ‘SNL’ Skit Should Not Have Nuclear Weapon Access

“Anybody who is upset about a Saturday Night Live skit, you don’t want in charge of nuclear weapons,” President Barack Obama advised today while campaigning for Hillary Clinton in Miami.

“This is a guy who, like, tweets, ‘They should cancel Saturday Night Live. I don’t like how Alec Baldwin’s imitating me’,” Obama joked of a recent Donald Trump Twitter rant. “Really? I mean, that’s the thing that bothers you and you want to be president of the United States?!”

Last month, after an SNL episode, in which Baldwin played the GOP candidate, Trump tweeted angrily: “Watched Saturday Night Live hit job on me. Time to retire the boring and unfunny show. Alec Baldwin portrayal stinks. Media rigging election!”

That’s in marked contrast to one year ago, when Trump staunchly defended SNL as the show took heat for booking him to host. It marked the first time in the show’s history a presidential candidate had hosted. Back then, Trump described the show as “fantastic.” And, when Fox News Channel’s Fox & Friends asked him, in advance of his guest gig, if he thought NBC would dump him in reaction to a MoveOn.org petition seeking to have him yanked, Trump shot back happily, “If they want to do the show with one-third the ratings, they might do that.”
