Mel Gibson Mulls Advice To Younger Self, Discusses ‘Hackaw Ridge’ In Stephen Colbert Visit


UPDATE with video: Appearing on CBS’ The Late Show to promote his buzzy new WWII movie Hacksaw Ridge, Mel Gibson played along with Stephen Colbert’s Big Questions With Even Bigger Stars segment, during which he said he will not have one regret about his life when he looks back.

Asked what he would tell his younger self if he could he go back in time, Gibson ticked off:

  1. Don’t be so caught up in the little things
  2. Take advantage of all the gifts the the world has to offer
  3. Life every day to the fullest
  4. Shut the f*ck up

That last one earned him a big laugh and round of applause.

Colbert devoted most of last night’s show to discussion about Gibson’s movie about Desmond Doss, the first conscientious objector to receive the Medal of Honor for bravery in battle:
