Jay Leno Addresses NBC’s Billy Bush Debacle While Tagged In To Deliver ‘Tonight Show’ Opening Monologue

Jay Leno tagged in on The Tonight Show last night to “help out” NBC, which has found itself one of the more interesting storylines of this head-smacking White House race. While Tonight’s current host Jimmy Fallon was dinged in some corners for a recent hair-mussing appearance by GOP hopeful Donald Trump, the show’s former host reveled in a string of old-school Trump barbs.

Leno also expounded happily on NBC’s uncomfortable and ongoing Billy Bush/Access Hollywood chapter. Trump recently insinuated he’s mulling a lawsuit against NBCUni over the leaked 2005 tape of a Trump/Bush Access Hollywood hot-mic conversation, in which Trump boasted about having a famous-person’s Grope Women With Impunity pass. NBC recently let go Bush over his remarks and actions in the recording, while issuing a statement wishing him all the best, thanking him for his service, etc.

Leno, last night, said this:

“I had a great costume this year,” Leno said during his Halloween guest-monologue. “I put a douchebag on my head and went out as Billy Bush.”

Leno also let fly a string of How Bad Is The Economy gags, and took a couple pokes at Hillary Clinton: “Hillary Clinton got quite a scare tonight. I guess a trick-or-treater came to the door dressed as a lie detector.”
