Sony Puts Matt Tolmach’s ‘The Bringing’ With Michael Pena Into Turnaround

EXCLUSIVE: The Michael Pena-starring horror thriller The Bringing with Matt Tolmach producing has just been put into turnaround at Columbia Pictures. Jeremy Lovering (Sherlock) had been on board to direct the project but is no longer. The idea was inspired by the true-life story of a woman found dead in the water tank on the roof of the Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The story centers on an investigator (Pena) who is looking into the death. The project has gone through a number of drafts by various writers. Daniela Cristina Cretu and David Manpearl are also producing.

Pena next stars in Will Smith’s Collateral Beauty, which will be released December 16 from New Line and Warner Bros (he also is on the studio’s remake of the 1970s TV series CHiPs). Tolmach is, of course, hard at work for the studio on the remake of Jumanji. He is working, too, on Rock That Body with Scarlett Johansson.
