Gotham Awards To Honor NYC Film Office, Aziz Ansari & Judith Light

The New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment will receive an Appreciation Award at this year’s Gotham Awards show, which is set for November 28 at Cipriani Wall Street.

Office commissioner Julie Menin and Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen will accept the award, in recognition of the office’s 50th anniversary. The pair will then present “Made in NY” awards to Aziz Ansari, whose Netflix series Master Of None is based on his experiences in New York, and Judith Light.

“MOME has played an integral role in the growth and prosperity of the media industry in New York City over the past 50 years,” said Joana Vicente, executive director of organizer IFP and the Made in NY. “Their efforts have not only created jobs and bolstered the creative economy, but also created opportunities for the many diverse communities of our city to contribute to the cultural landscape through arts and entertainment.”

The Gothams have already lined up Amy Adams, Ethan Hawke, Oliver Stone and producer Arnon Milchan for tributes at the ceremony. Nomination were announced October 20, with Manchester By The Sea and Moonlight scoring the most overall nominations for the awards that recognize the year’s best in indie films.
