The Carrie Diaries alumna Ellen Wong has been tapped for a recurring role opposite Alison Brie and Marc Maron in G.L.O.W., Netflix’s 10-episode straight-to-series comedy executive produced by Orange Is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan. Created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, G.L.O.W. was inspired by the real story of the 1980s female wrestling league. Set in Los Angeles and showcasing big hair and body slams, the series tells the fictionalized story of Ruth (Brie), an out-of-work, struggling actress who finds one last attempt to live her dreams when she’s thrust into the glitter and spandex world of women’s wrestling via a weekly series about female wrestlers. Wong will play Jenny, a pop culturally obsessed transplant from Cambodia. Wong played the series regular role of Mouse on The Carrie Diaries, had a starring role in Universal’s Scott Pilgrim vs The World, and a supporting role in James Ponsoldt’s The Circle. She’s repped by Innovative Artists, Thruline Entertainment and Premier Artists Management in Canada.

Sydney Morton (Broadway’s Motown) has landed a recurring role opposite DeWanda Wise in Spike Lee’s 10-episode Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It, a contemporary update of Lee’s groundbreaking 1986 indie film. The series centers on Darling (Wise), a Brooklyn-based sexually liberated, free-spirited painter/mixed media artist in her late 20s struggling to define herself and divide her time amongst her friends, her job and her three lovers. Morton will play Sheryl Overstreet, Jamie’s (Lyriq Bent) wife. Morton’s film credits include Sign and Love, New York. She’s repped by BRS-Gage and 44 West Entertainment.
