New ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Trailer: Michael Fassbender Travels Back In Time

“The party is just getting started,” quipped Michael Fassbender’s Callum Lynch in Fox’s newly released trailer for Assassin’s Creed. Based on the popular video game franchise, the New Regency and Ubisoft film adaptation was directed by Justin Kurzel from a screenplay by Bill Collage, Adam Cooper, Scott Frank, and Michael Lesslie. It bows in theaters December 21.

The pic, which is set in the same world as the game, follows Callum, a career criminal who, through the use of futuristic technology, unlocks his memories and experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar de Nerha, an assassin in 15th century Spain. When Callum discovers he is descended from this mysterious secret society, he amasses the knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.

Marion Cotillard, Michael K. Williams, Ariane Labed, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, Charlotte Rampling and Khalid Abdalla also co-star.
