‘Pokemon: The First Movie’ Re-Release Looks To Catch Audiences In Wake Of Series’ 20th Anniversary


Unlike some Pokemon Go players, fans of the Japanese series won’t have to drive off the road when Pokemon: The First Movie returns to the big screen.

In celebration of Pokemon’s 20th anniversary, Cinemark in conjunction with the Pokemon Company is bringing the 1998 movie back to 200 theaters on October 29 and November 1. Tickets are $5 a pop.

Toho distributed the movie in Japan during the summer of 1998 before Warner Bros. released it stateside in November 1999 where it opened to a then-whopping $31M and finaled at $85.7M.
