’24’ alum Carlos Bernard To Reprise His Role In Reboot ’24: Legacy’–NY Comic-Con

Tony Almeida is back. Carlos Bernard is set to return in Fox’s upcoming 24:Legacy, said exec producers during their stop New York Comic Con. Bernard’s character died in Season 5 but resurfaced as the antihero in Season 7 where he was last seen being hauled off the jail in the finale. “He was imprisoned for doing very terrible things again and again. When we did the show in London, on the DVD, there’s a little short where he arranges his escape so this has been planned for a very long time or we’re very lucy we did that short.”

This marks the first character from the original series to reprise their role in the reboot. No word on any other characters returning but EPs hinted that he may not be the last. “This takes place in the 24 universe. S0 Jack’s story is still ongoing” said Manny Coto. “Allusions may prop up here and there… it’s all one big world.”

The new series stars Corey Hawkins as Eric Carter, an ex-Army Ranger and chronicles a race against the clock to stop a devastating terrorist attack on United States soil – in the original’s signature real-time format but in 12 episodes instead of the original 24 . “There is a different amount of pressure on each episode” said EP Evan Katz. “With 24 you could kind of move things more slowly once in a while.” With the new format, he continued, “there is a pressure and desire to make every episode finely honed.”

24: Legacy will debut with a two-night preimere beginning February 5 after the Super Bowl before landing at its regular timeslot, Monday at 8 PM, the same night the original series aired for most of its run.

Howard Gordon, Brian Grazer, Coto and Katz executive produce with director Stephen Hopkins and original series 24 star Kiefer Sutherland.
