‘Underworld: Blood Wars’: New Trailer Invades NY Comic-Con

Underworld: Blood Wars will be unleashed on theaters in January, and so it is that the stars and director showed up this morning at New York Comic-Con to talk about the fifth installment in the film series. On hand were stars Kate Beckinsale and Theo James along with director Anna Foerster, who dished on making the vampires-vs-werewolves flick. Beforehand, the full-length second trailer debuted to a packed and highly enthusiastic crowd, and you can watch it here now. Enjoy.

Following the trailer was a panel discussion best described as “saucy”, as James and Beckinsale joked extensively while talking the film up. For instance, on the subject of the franchise now having a woman at the helm, said Beckinsale: “I’m all about as many vaginas being involved as possible. Who doesn’t love those!” This got big laughs and cheers, but, Beckinsale continued, “I don’t think that gender has anything to do with whether you’re a good director or a bad director… I’m hoping in a few years the conversation about having a female director being unusual will be unusual.”

Among the other highlights, Beckinsale revealed how she pranked James, with the assistance of the crew, by putting a ferret in his trailer. (Don’t worry, they found an adoptive home for the animal among the crew.)

Coming January 6, 2017 from Screen Gems, the script is by Cory Goodman. Tobias Menzies, Trent Garrett, Lara Pulver, Clementine Nicholson, Bradley James, and Charles Dance also star.
