Ralph Macchio Pic ‘Lost Cat Corona’ Acquired By Virgil Films; Cinelicious Pics Nabs ‘Dark Night’

Virgil Films

Virgil Films (Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me, I Am Chris Farley) has acquired North American rights to Lost Cat Corona, the indie comedy starring Ralph Macchio and Gina Gershon. Anthony Tarsitano wrote and directed the pic about a hardworking, play-it-safe guy living in the Corona section of Queens who just wants to relax on his day off. But he’s ordered by his distressed wife, Connie (Gershon), to go out and find their cat Leonard, who has disappeared. When he ventures into the neighborhood with his buddy (David Zayas), things get interesting. Paul Sorvino, Sean Young, Katherine Narducci and Tom Wopat co-star. A first-quarter 2017 theatrical release is planned.

Cinelicious Pics

Cinelicious Pics has acquired North American rights from Cinetic Media to Tim Sutton’s Dark Night, a feature loosely based on the 2012 movie theater shooting in Aurora, CO, that took place during a screening of The Dark Knight. The movie, which bowed at Sundance in January and screened at the Venice Film Festival, follows the activities of six strangers over the course of one day, from sunrise to midnight — the shooter among them. It employs a pseudo-documentary technique and cast non-professional actors. An early-2017 theatrical and VOD bow is in the works.
