Netflix Gets ‘Naked’ With Marlon Wayans & Regina Hall

EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has set Marlon Wayans and Regina Hall to star in Naked, a remake of the 2000 Swedish film Naken. The romantic comedy reunites Wayans with helmer Michael Tiddes, who directed him in A Haunted House and most recently Fifty Shades Of Black. Cory Koller, Wayans and Rick Alvarez wrote the script. Netflix has set the film to start production next month in Charleston, SC, to premiere globally on the streaming site in 2017. Wayans becomes the latest film star to take a film to Netflix, and it seems a good match, since his movies play well on the service.

“The response I’ve gotten from fans worldwide to my films on Netflix has been overwhelming, and I’m thrilled to be working with them on an original film,” Wayans said in a statement. “Also, I’m excited to be working with Regina again.”

The premise is Groundhog Day, sans clothes. Wayans stars as Rob Anderson, a charming man-child who wakes up on his wedding day, naked in an elevator. He relives the hour before the ceremony over and over again. The film is being produced by Wayans, Alvarez, Todd Garner (whose relationship with Wayans goes back to the Revolution pics White Chicks and Little Man), and Ryan Lewis. Sean Robins, Michael Flynn and Paul Hanson serve as executive producers.

Wayans is repped by 3 Arts Entertainment, UTA and attorney Lawrence Kopeikin. Hall is repped by ICM Partners and Principato Young. Keller is with APA and Lichter Grossman.
