‘Jumanji’ Sequel Casts Rhys Darby and Morgan Turner


EXCLUSIVE: Comedian Rhys Darby and Morgan Turner are the latest to join the cast of  Sony’s Jumanji. Out July 28, the continuation to the original is toplined by Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, and Nick Jonas.

Helmed by Jake Kasdan, Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner wrote the most recent version of the script, based on draft by original writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. It’s all based on Chris Van Allsburg’s book, which bred the Robin Williams-starring film that grossed $260 million globally. Production is currently underway in Hawaii.

Darby, who plays Nigel in the pic, is currently a series regular on the TBS comedy Wrecked, which was picked up for a second season, and can be heard lending his voice in the new Netflix animated series Voltron: Legendary Defender. Other film credits include Yes Man starring Jim Carrey and Hunt For The Wilderpeople.  Darby is repped by UTA, Principato Young, and Morris, Yorn.

Turner played Veda Pierce in the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce opposite Kate Winslet. The young actress recently wrapped Todd Hayne’s Wonderstruck and can also be seen in indies The Sisterhood of NightQuitters, and A Miracle in Spanish Harlem. Turner is repped by CESD, Station3, and Jackoway Tyerman.
