Hillary Clinton’s Going To Win, Tim Kaine Assures UTA Exec-Hosted Fundraiser

EXCLUSIVE: Hillary Clinton may have skipped out on a couple of Hollywood fundraisers last week due to illness but her running mate was full of nothing but vigor today over the ex-Secretary of State’s health and the Democratic ticket’s chances in November.

“We’re going to win this,” Sen. Tim Kaine told an enthusiastic, deep-pocketed gathering Tuesday at UTA’s Beverly Hills HQ after being introduced by the agency’s managing director Jay Sures. “I’m 8-0 in elections and I absolutely plan on being 9-0,” he added to big applause.

The Vice Presidential candidate also assured donors at the afternoon $2,700-$27,000-a-ticket fundraiser that Clinton was back in fighting form after a bout of reluctantly revealed pneumonia that took her off the trail for a few days last week. If Hollywood was nervous about Clinton’s well-being or how close the polls are with rival Donald Trump, Kaine words “were a balm on our anxieties,” one attendee said.

Hosted by the Virginia senator’s Tinseltown consigliore Sures, the event saw Lionsgate co-chair and CEO Jon Feltheimer, NBCUniversal film boss Jeff Shell, UTA client Judd Apatow, Nina Tassler, longtime Democratic supporter Cindy Horn and ex-Chernin Entertainment president Katherine Pope among those in attendance. Also there was architect Frank Gehry, producer Marcy Carsey, Tennis Channel CEO Ken Solomon and Melissa Rivers. Kaine spoke for about 15 minutes then took questions from the crowd.

This was the second visit to the Hollywood ATM in as many days for Kaine. On Monday evening, the potential VP was the star attraction at a Latinos for Hillary Dinner hosted by Eva Longoria at her home. The shindig at the longtime Democratic activist and former Desperate Housewives star’s pad had tickets going for $10,000-$100,000. Among those on hand at the event was L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti.

This is also the second time Kaine and Sures, a longtime pal, have wined and dined in recent months.  Sures hosted a heavyweight dinner for Kaine in July before the ex-Virginia governor was given the official nod as Clinton’s running mate. That private gathering saw Turner Entertainment CCO Kevin Reilly, Fox’s Dana Walden, UTA client Chuck Lorre and former Paramount boss Sherry Lansing all breaking bread with Kaine at the UTA exec’s Brentwood home. On that trip, the senator also had some face time with Disney’s Bob Iger, Warner Bros’ Kevin Tsujihara and ICM Partners’ Chris Silbermann.

No word what the off-the-book sitdowns may be for Kaine on this trip.
