Uncork’d Entertainment has acquired director Glenn Douglas Packard’s horror film Pitchfork, with a theatrical and VOD release in the works for early next year. From a screenplay by Packard and Darryl F. Gariglio, the film follows Hunter who, after having recently shared a life-changing secret with his family, recruits his friends to come with him from New York to the farm where he grew up as he faces his parents for the first time. As the college students enjoy the fresh air of Michigan farm country, an older, more dangerous secret slowly emerges. While Hunter navigates a new place within his conservative family, a vicious creature from their past descends on the farm, putting the unsuspecting city kids in mortal danger. Packard, repped by Shakir Entertainment Management, also produced with Gariglio and Noreen Marriott.

Dillon Jordan’s PaperChase Films has secured North American rights to Swing State, a political satire that centers on a liberal DJ who invents a fictitious conservative radio personality that becomes an overnight sensation. Written and directed by Jonathan Sheldon, the pic will open the Downtown Film Festival L.A. on September 21, with a limited theatrical run and multi-platform release beginning November 1.
