Bruce Rosenblum Joins Disney-ABC TV Group As President Business Operations

Veteran TV executive and current chairman of the TV Academy Bruce Rosenblum has been named president, Business Operations for Disney-ABC Television Group. He will report to Ben Sherwood, co-chairman, Disney Media Networks and president, Disney|ABC Television Group. The timing of the announcement coincides with Emmy weekend when Rosenblum will be attending the Sunday ceremony and a slew of parties that precede and follow it.

In this newly created position, former Warner Bros. TV Group and Legendary TV topper Rosenblum will have direct oversight and responsibility for all aspects of Disney|ABC business operations, including Global Distribution; Affiliate Sales and Marketing; Digital Media, Strategy and Business Development; Media Operations, Engineering and IT; and Consumer Insights. He will also jointly oversee all Ad Sales aspects for the organization alongside each business unit leader.

The hire cuts by more than half Sherwood’s current reports. Continuing to report to him are all top creative executives — the heads of ABC Entertainment (Channing Dungey), ABC Studios (Patrick Moran), Disney Channels (Gary Marsh), Freeform (Tom Ascheim) as well as HR, communications, legal and finance.

Rosenblum is known for his management and dealmaking skills, spearheading numerous difficult negotiations while at Warner Bris.

Rosenblum is currently serving his second term as chairman & CEO of the Television Academy, a volunteer position he began in 2011 and which ends this coming December. Most recently, he was president of Legendary Television and Digital Media, which he’d launched. He left in March following Legendary’s acquisition by China’s Dalian Wanda Group.

Before that, Rosenblum spent 26 years at Warner Bros. From 2005 through 2013, he served as President, Warner Bros. Television Group, reporting directly to the company’s Chairman and CEO, Barry Meyer.  He was responsible for the entire Warner Bros. portfolio of television businesses, including Warner Bros. Television, Warner Horizon Television, Telepictures, Warner Bros. Animation, Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros. Domestic and International Television Distribution, Marketing, Research and Ad Sales, and Warner Bros.’ co-ownership of the CW Broadcast Network.  In his final years at Warner Bros., the WBTG represented over 50% of Warner Bros.’ total profits.
