Samuel Goldwyn, Eammon Films

Samuel Goldwyn Films and Eammon Films have partnered to release coming-of-age title Coming Through the Rye, directed by James Sadwith. Story is based on Sadwith’s personal journey as a high schooler looking to meet the reclusive and acclaimed The Catcher in the Rye author JD Salinger.

Alex Wolff (Patriot’s Day), Stefania Owen (All We Had) and Chris Cooper star in the film, which is set in 1969 and sees 16 year-old Jamie, an outcast in his new boarding school, find solace in Salinger’s epic work. He deeply relates to the book’s protagonist Holden Caulfield and, believing he is destined to play the character, decides to adapt the novel into a play but not before seeking approval from the author himself. He runs away with a local girl to search for the reclusive writer.

Film is written and directed by Sadwith, who also produces with Stan Erdreich and Teddy Grennan. Jeff Steen and Alexandra Woodward exec produce.

Eammon Films will handle the theatrical release in the US on October 14, with Samuel Goldwyn distributing the title across all ancillaries.

Deal was negotiated by Rob Lynch of Eammon Films and Linda Lichter on behalf of the filmmaker and Melanie Miller on behalf of Samuel Goldwyn.
