Fox Nabs Cop Drama From Sheldon Turner & McG

Up In the Air and X-Men: First Class co-writer Sheldon Turner has teamed with Charlie’s Angels director McG for a buddy cop drama with a twist, which has landed at Fox with a script commitment plus significant penalty. The project hails from 20th Century Fox TV, where Turner and Jennifer Klein’s Vendetta Prods. as well as McG’s Wonderland Sound and Vision recently signed overall deals.

Written by Turner and to be directed by McG, the untitled drama (aka Good Cop/Bad Cop) centers on a meek San Francisco detective struggling with psychological trauma who conjures up an imaginary rogue partner who helps him get the job done.

Turner, McG and Klein executive produce alongside Wonderland president Mary Viola.

This is the first 20th TV sale for Vendetta, which also is shopping American Sucker, a drama series adaptation of Walter Kirn’s autobiographical book Blood Will Out. The project, written by Turner, is produced by TriStar TV and was previously set up at TNT. Vendetta is repped by CAA.

For McG, this is a second broadcast sale this season, along with an action drama written by House creator David Shore, from  Davis Entertainment, Sony TV and 20th TV, loosely based on the 1965 adventure series I Spy. It is set at Fox with a put pilot commitment.

McG, who also exec produces Freeform’s Shadowhunters and the CW’s Supernatural, is repped by WME, Management 360 and Sloane Offer.
