AFI Awards Set For January 6; Other Key Dates Announced

The AFI Awards will be handed out at an invite-only luncheon January 6. The The American Film Institute today also set the deadlines for television and films submissions for October 20 and October 27, respectively, with both polls closing at 5 PM PT on those dates. The AFI’s annual top 10 list of TV shows and films will be announced on December 8.

The awards ceremony honors the entire creative team behind outstanding achievements in the art of the moving image and are voted on by a jury of industry experts and AFI trustees. Last year’s TV list included FX’s The Americans and Fargo, HBO’s Game of Thrones and AMC’s Better Call Saul, the top films including Best Picture Oscar winner Spotlight from Open Road Films, Disney’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Universal’s Straight Outta Compton and Paramount’s The Big Short.
