NBC Goes Live To Cover Hillary’s Heat Stumble; Fox Reports She Lost A Shoe

Fox News Channel

An apparently overheated Hillary Clinton stumbled upon leaving this morning 9/11 memorial ceremony in New York City, quickly grabbing the attention of broadcasters and cable nets. NBC News went live at 11:52 a.m. ET with an optional special report anchored by Lester Holt as the candidate left her daughter Chelsea’s NYC apartment following the Ground Zero swoon.

The Clinton campaign was quick to note that the candidate was merely overcome by the city’s heat, and indeed Clinton seemed chipper – smiling and waving – as she left her daughter’s apartment. Asked if she was feeling better by a reporter, she said, “Yes, thank you very much.”

The fairly dramatic knee-buckle – in which Clinton was physically supported by Secret Service agents as she entered her limo, and most certainly will play into the ongoing campaign of doubt cast by Republicans like Sean Hannity regarding the candidate’s health – was covered by Fox (“my source told me that one of her shoes actually came off,” reported a Fox News correspondent from Ground Zero). CNN soon went back to covering Clinton’s “basket of deplorables” brouhaha.

Donald Trump didn’t immediately tweet about the incident, though he did tell NBC News as he left an NYC firehouse, “I don’t know anything about it.”

He wasn’t alone – NYC viewers watching their local news channels likely were unaware of the incident as it happened: As is now tradition, the local channels were covering the annual reading of the victims’ names, live from the former Twin Towers site.
