“It’s your TV, so take it with you!” That’s the ad line for the updated version of DirecTV’s app that launched today. Subscribers now can stream live or recorded shows from 300-plus offered channels and access their DVR recordings wherever they are. Users also can download their DVR content for offline viewing anytime.

Also new is Data Free TV, which allows AT&T wireless customers to stream via the DirecTV or U-verse apps without it counting toward their monthly data plan. The DirecTV app also allows access to more than 20,000 on-demand titles.

“Our customers want to take their TVs with them, and our new DirecTV app allows just that,” said David Christopher, CMO of AT&T Entertainment Group. “You can get the content you want, when you want it — your living room channels and your recorded content with you, anywhere you go.”

The app lets users only stream channels to which they subscribe, and AT&T noted that not all channels are available, though it didn’t note which ones. The company also noted that certain content cannot be downloaded.
