‘Bachelor In Paradise’ Finale Ratings Steady, ‘Zoo’ Down From 2015, NBC Tops Night

The fall season started on cable last night with the debut of FX’s Atlanta and OWN’s Queen Sugar, but on half of the Big 4, it was all about wrapping things up. For CBS, that meant the Season 2 finale of the renewed Zoo (0.7/3), and for ABC it meant a full night of finales with Bachelor in Paradise (1.6/7), Bachelor in Paradise: After Paradise (1.1/4) — during which the Season 4 pickup for Bachelor in Paradise was announced — and Mistresses (0.6/2).

There was a lot of romance and some heartbreak on the ABC reality show’s Season 3 ender, but there also was some nice movement from last week, with BiP rising 14% from its August 30 show among adults 18-49. Ticking up a touch to 5.56 million viewers, last night’s BiP also was even with its season high and actually hit a season topper audience-wise. However, maybe more important to the brass over at the Disney-owned net, BiP was up over its Season 2 finale of September 7 last year by 7% — a steady move.

Lead-out After Paradise saw a 22% demo rise from last week, while 10 PM’s Mistresses was even with its 9 PM Season 3 finale of September 3, 2015, a Thursday. Week-to-week, the sultry drama was even with its August 29 show, which was on a Monday, but up a tenth from its September 5 show. The House of Moonves’ two-hour Zoo was even with last week but took a 22% dive from its one-hour Season 1 finale on September 15 last year.

The victor of the night was NBC, with America’s Got Talent (2.4/9) topping the night in the demo and — with 11.73 million watching — eyeballs. The competition show was followed at 10 PM by Week 3 of Better Late Than Never (1.6/6), which is proving a steady earner for the Comcast-owned net. The four-week romp starring William Shatner, George Foreman, Terry Bradshaw and Henry Winkler remained even with its August 23 premiere and its August 30 show. Overall, NBC won Tuesday’s primetime with a 2.2/8 demo rating and 10.51 million viewers.

The CW’s only original of the night was MADtv (0.2/1), which was down a tenth from its August 30 show. Fox was all encores on Tuesday.
