Cosmopolis Entertainment Finance/Production Company Looking To Develop Slate Of Indie Films

A Los Angeles-based production company has been recently formed to produce and fully-finance modestly-budgeted indie features. Cosmopolis Entertainment LLC — which is said to be privately funded — has already completed its first feature American Exit, an original drama co-written and co-directed by Cosmopolis’ founder and president Ingo Vollkammer. It began last year and is currently developing a slate of modestly budgeted motion pictures to explore inspirational, and socially relevant themes and issues.

“I’ve long admired the Participant business model, with its focus on substantial stories of social change. We gravitate as a company to dramatic, eclectic material that has international appeal,” said Vollkammer in making the announcement. “We will fully finance our projects and work with various distribution partners, but we do not require a distribution agreement in advance of greenlighting a project.”

American Exit, already in post, marked Vollkammer’s directorial debut and he worked with co-directed Tim McCann (Revolution #9, White Rabbit, All Mistakes Buried) on it. Dane Cook (Dan in Real Life), Levi Miller (Pan), John Savage, Udo Kier (Blade) and Claire van der Boom (Hawaii Five-O) are in the film which is said to be based on a true account with a fictionalized narrative. The feature follows a dying California man’s (Cook) attempt to make amends for his chief regrets in life, which brings him to reconnect with his estranged son on what unexpectedly comes to be a dangerous, yet bonding journey.

Producers Vollkammer, McCann, Jennifer Konowal, Ross Kohn and Nancy Leopardi developed the project. Cosmopolis Entertainment fully financed the film.

Dane Cook’s upcoming projects include the Starz! television series American Gods from creators Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) and Michael Green (Heroes), where he will appear alongside Gillian Anderson (The X-Files) and Ian McShane (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) debuting in 2017.

Volkammer is repped by attorney Tom Rubin. McCann is represented by Jeffrey Belkin at Zero Gravity Management and Ira Schreck at Schreck, Rose, Dapello and Adams, LLP.
