KCET Must See Movies kicks off next month with a trio of Oscar Best Picture winners: Patton, on Friday, September 2; From Here to Eternity on Friday, September 9; and The Bridge on the River Kwai, on Friday, September 16. The films were chosen to commemorate the month that marked the beginning of the World War II — September 1, 1939, when Nazi Germany invaded Poland. All air at 9 PM in Southern California with encores Saturday at 4 PM.

During his career, Hammond  served as film critic for MovieLine, Boxoffice magazine, Backstage, and Maxim. He is the recipient of five Emmy nominations for his TV writing and is the winner of the 1996 Publicists Guild’s Press Award and is only the second journalist in the organization’s 50-year history to receive the award twice (winning again in 2013). He also hosts KCET’s LA-based weekly live screening event series, KCET Cinema Series, a quarterly presentation of nine weeks of thought-provoking stories on the big screen prior to their theatrical release. It also features post-screening Q&As with top movie talent.
