Thomas Gibson Reacts To His Dismissal From ‘Criminal Minds’

Criminal Minds star Thomas Gibson has issued a statement in response to the decision by the studios behind the long-running CBS crime drama, ABC Studios and CBS TV Studios, to fire him following an on-set physical altercation which happened two weeks ago but only came to light within the last 36 hours. In the statement, he does not address the incident but expresses disappointment over his termination and thanks the show’s cast, writers, producers and crew. In an incident that triggered the firing, Gibson allegedly hit a writer-producer on the show after being involved in a similar altercation with an assistant director several years ago.

I love Criminal Minds and have put my heart and soul into it for the last twelve years. I had hoped to see it through to the end, but that won’t be possible now. I would just like to say thank you to the writers, producers, actors, our amazing crew, and, most importantly, the best fans that a show could ever hope to have.

Gibson was an original cast member of Criminal Minds, which is in production of its 12th season. His character, BAU Special Agent Aaron Hotchner, is being written off the show.
