FYI Erects ‘Downtown Shabby’; Frank & Sherry Fontana Renovate Vintage Homes

FYI has given the green light to Downtown Shabby, an eight-episode series featuring “renovation power couple” Frank and Sherry Fontana. It will focus on older homes that look like the perfect dream house on the outside but are practically unlivable on the inside. Production is under way on the series, which is slated to premiere in the fall.

The Fontanas will take vintage homes that hide such dark secrets as dry rot, weak foundations, cramped design or termite infestations and renovate, remodel and ultimately revive them into modern masterpieces. While keeping an eye towards the charm and class of the original home, they will modernize every aspect of the interior, from opening the floor plan to installing the latest cutting edge technology. Downtown Shabby also will document the lives of the homeowners as they remain in the houses throughout the renovation process.

“Frank and Sherry are proven talent in the home renovation space and will bring their passion for property preservation to this new series,” said Gena McCarthy, EVP Programming and Development at FYI. “Downtown Shabby will capture huge renovations, unexpected challenges and stunning reveals.”

A familiar face on HGTV, Frank Fontana has hosted such programs as Takeover My Makeover and the long-running Design on a Dime.

The series is produced for FYI by 3 Ball Entertainment. Executive producers for 3 Ball Entertainment are Todd A. Nelson, DJ Nurre, Ross Weintraub and Curnal Aulisio. Executive producers for FYI are McCarthy and James Bolosh.
