‘Big Brother’ Renewed For Seasons 19 & 20 On CBS – TCA

For a second consecutive time CBS has given a two-season pickup to its summer reality staple Big Brother. Seasons 19 and 20 will air in summer 2017 and 2018 with host Julie Chen returning. The renewal comes on the heels of CBS All Access picking up an extra season (digital edition) of the veteran reality series to run on CBS’ SVOD and live-streaming platform this fall.

Since it premiered on CBS in the summer of 2000, Big Brother has consistently finished among the summer’s top-rated series in young demographics. While ratings for summer series have slipped year-to-year across the board, summer-to-date, all three weekly broadcasts of Big Brother rank among the top five programs in A18-34, and the top 10 programs in A18-49. Additionally, Big Brother, which is facing an uphill battle at the moment, facing NBC’s coverage of the summer Olympics, qualifies as the most social series on TV this summer, according to Nielsen Social, and total streams across digital platforms are up 33% over last year.

Big Brother is produced by Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan for Fly on the Wall Entertainment, in association with Endemol Shine North America. Season 18 finale will air September 21.
