Ms. Pat Comedy From Lee Daniels & Brian Grazer Gets Fox Put Pilot Commitment

EXCLUSIVE: Fox has given a put pilot commitment to a single-camera half-hour comedy series starring standup comedian Ms. Pat, which is executive produced by the Empire duo of co-creator/executive producer Lee Daniels and executive producer Brian Grazer.

TCA Awards, Los Angeles, America - 08 Aug 2015

Written by Alyson Fouse (Born Again Virgin), the project, from Imagine TV, Lee Daniels Entertainment and 20th Century Fox TV, is based on Ms. Pat’s stand-up comedy and upcoming memoir, which tells the story of a most unlikely suburban mom. Her hustle and entrepreneurial spirit were forged on the mean streets of Atlanta, but she now finds herself in conservative middle America alongside her loving husband and two distinct sets of kids raised under very different circumstances.

Daniels, Grazer and Fouse executive produce with Francie Calfo, Pam Williams and Effie Brown. Ms. Pat is co-executive producing.

Born to a single mother of 5, living on welfare in a tough West end neighborhood of Atlanta, Ms. Pat (real name Patricia Williams) had her first child at 14 and her second child at 15, She became a drug dealer, was shot twice and arrested numerous times during her teen years. At 19, with two toddlers and a new husband, she was handed the 4 young children of her sister who was struggling with drug addiction. Ms. Pat would go on to raise all 6 children. (watch below a video of her standup that touches upon her backstory.)

Ms. Pat, who appeared on NBC’s Last Comic Standing in 2015 and is known for her podcast appearances, is repped by APA, MacDonald Entertainment and attorney Bradley Garrett.

At Fox, Daniels also has smash Empire and new drama series Star; Imagine TV has Empire and new series 24: Legacy and Shots Fired. Fouse is repped by PYE and Gersh Agency.
