James Remar Joins ‘Altar Rock’; Kobna Holdbrook-Smith Tops Paradise Garage Pic

James Remar has joined the cast of Altar Rock, the millennial romantic thriller starring India Eisley and K.J. Apa as star-crossed lovers on the island of Nantucket whose romance is threatened by family loyalty. Sydney Park and Scott Adkins co-star. Remar will play FBI Agent Cantrell, who struggles to walk the line as his loyalty to Tillie’s deceased father puts him on a journey of personal revenge. Repped by Gersh and Lighthouse Management, Remar’s recent credits include Django Unchained, X-Men: First Class and TV’s The Shannara Chronicles and Dexter. Ellie Cornell (above right) also has joined the pic as Tillie’s Aunt Jenny, who suddenly finds herself guardian to a bereaved and confused teenager in the midst of turmoil.

Kobna Holdbrook-Smith has landed a key role in Paradise Garage (working title), the Jonathan Ullman-directed film about the legendary New York nightclub that reigned as the world’s top dance music club from 1977-87. The members-only, underground nightclub catered to a diverse, predominantly minority crowd from all walks of life. Holdbrook-Smith will play the club’s trailblazing DJ Larry Levan, who introduced the world to hundreds of groundbreaking hit records. Holdbrook-Smith’s credits include The Double with Jesse Eisenberg, and he next will appear in the Dr. Strange opposite Benedict Cumberbatch and The Commuter with Liam Neeson. He’s repped by the Artists Partnership in the UK, APA in the U.S. and Industry Entertainment.
