‘Shadowhunters’: Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer Tapped As New Showrunners

Former Smallville showrunners Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer have been named as new executive producers/showrunners of Freeform’s fantasy series Shadowhunters. They will replace Ed Decter, who developed for television the adaptation of the Mortal Instruments novels and served as executive producer in Season 1. He abruptly exited last week as the series was starting production on its second season.

Additionally, Matt Hastings (The Originals) recently joined Shadowhunters as executive producer/series director.

Shadowhunters has been a buzzy show for Freeform, recently winning two Teen Choice Awards. After a high-rated series premiere, there was a ratings dropoff, but the series quickly stabilized and was relatively steady for most of its freshman run.

Slavkin and Swimmer recently served as showrunners on Syfy’s supernatural drama series Dominion and also have been serving as executive producers on Freeform’s new drama series Guilt.
