EXCLUSIVE: Bloodline‘s Linda Cardellini has been cast in Hunter Killer, the Millennium Films action thriller being directed by Donovan Marsh. Penned by Peter Craig and Jamie Moss and based on the novel Firing Point by George Wallace and Don Keith, the pic revolves around an American submarine commander (Gerard Butler) sent into Russian waters to save the Russian president (Gary Oldman) in the midst of a military coup.

Cardellini will play Jane Norquist, a NSA senior analyst and Russia expert. Toby Stephens, Billy Bob Thornton, Common, Ryan McPartlin and Gabriel Chavarria also co-star.

The film is produced by Original Film’s Neal Moritz and Toby Jaffe, who took back the pic after it had stalled while Relativity Media was going through bankruptcy (Martin Campbell had been attached as director at one point). Butler, Alan Siegel, Tucker Tooley, Mark Gill, John Thompson and Matt O’Toole also produce, and Douglas Urbanski, Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Les Weldon, Boaz Davidson and Christine Otal executive produce.

Cardellini, so good on Netflix’s Bloodline, is up next playing the wife of Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton) in The Weinstein Company’s The Founder, which gets an Oscar-qualifying run December 16 before going wide January 20.

She is repped by ICM Partners, Mosaic and Jackoway Tyerman.
