‘Donny!’ Eyes Cancellation By USA After 1 Season – Update

UPDATE 9:30 AM: After confirming Donny!‘s cancellation to Deadline, USA now has clarified the show’s renewal status as TBD.

PREVIOUSLY 8:30 AM: USA Network has opted not to order a second season of its comedy series Donny!, starring Donny Deutsch.

The network, whose bread and butter is original drama programming, took a shot with the half-hour project, which satirizes wealth, the media and modern romance through the eyes of Deutsch’s fictionalized character, based on the real-life TV personality. The series’ six-episode first season premiered last November to lukewarm response.

Donny! was created by Deutsch and Angie Day who executive produced with Banks Tarver and Ken Druckerman of Left/Right.

USA’s other original scripted comedy series, cult favorite Playing House, is heading into its third season.
