Steven Spielberg’s ‘Ready Player One’ Casts Young Newcomer Philip Zhao

Young newcomer Philip Zhao has landed a co-starring role opposite Tye Sheridan in Steven Spielberg’s upcoming action/sci-fi film Ready Player One.

Zhao recently booked the role of Shoto in the pic after being chosen from a world-wide talent search earlier this year. Directed by Spielberg and produced by Amblin Entertainment, the film is set in the virtual society of Oasis, where one teenager (Sheridan) finds himself competing for the fortune of the late game founder. Zhao is currently shooting in London alongside other cast members Sheridan, Mark Rylance and Simon Pegg.

Up-and-comer Zhao also has just signed with Abrams Artists Agency. He will be repped by the youth and young adult division of the agency out of New York in all theatrical areas, including TV, film and stage.
