‘MacGyver’: Tristin Mays Cast In CBS Series Reboot

Tristin Mays

Tristin Mays (The Vampire Diaries) has signed on as a series regular opposite Lucas Till and George Eads in CBS’ new fall series MacGyver, a reimagining of the 1985 show about a resourceful and ingenious agent who improvises his way out of sticky situations using everyday items like rubber bands, chewing gum and a Swiss Army knife.

Mays’ casting rounds out the planned new series regulars added after the pilot, joining Sandrine Holt and Justin Hires, in what is shaping up to be a diverse cast. The project is being revamped by Hawaii Five-0 showrunner Peter Lenkov, with only Till and Eads staying on from the original pilot.

Mays will play Riley Davis, a highly unpredictable computer hacker with a chip on her shoulder. Her brain teems with knowledge about computer coding and although she’s kinda-sorta pleased to be recruited for MacGyver’s team rather than be locked up in prison, she can’t be bothered to show much gratitude. Her character will be introduced in the September 23 series premiere.

Mays’ TV credits include recurring roles on series such as Supergirl, The Vampire Diaries, and Switched at Birth. Her feature film credits include The Wedding Ringer with Kevin Hart and Josh Gad, and Thunderstruck with Brandon T. Jackson and Jim Belushi. Mays is repped by Innovative Artists, Luber Roklin and Jackoway Tyerman.
