Luke Mitchell, Michelle Hurd Join ‘Blindspot’ Season 2 – Comic-Con

Blindspot creator Martin Gero announced at the Comic-Con panel for the WBTV/NBC series that Luke Mitchell and Michelle Hurd are joining the cast for season 2. They will play operatives from Jane Doe’s past (Jamie Alexander). Mitchell will play Roman, and he was mentioned in the finale as one of Jane’s contacts.

Hurd’s previous credits include Law & Order: SVU, Daredevil, and Hawaii Five-O. Mitchell was recently seen on ABC/Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. where his character was killed off.

As previously announced The Good Wife‘s Archie Panjabi has singed on Blindspot. She will play an NSA operative “who helps the team heals their wounds,” said Gero.

Gero set the scene for season 2: “It’s three months later and everyone has had a rough ride. Jane has been in a CIA black site. They’ve been questioning her for three months, and the rest of the team is listless. They’re going through the motions, and they’re dealing with anger that Jane is an impostor, especially after doing cases with her.” You can watch a Season 2 highlight reel above.

The creator promised that the first episode of season 2 truly plays like a sequel: “You’re gonna meet Shepherd, you’re going to find out who Luke Mitchell plays, you’ll learn what Jane’s real name is and actually more about her background,” said Gero. The first episode back won’t be a tattoo-of-the-week case. Gero will return to the show’s procedural rhythms in episode 2.

Alexander said that her character doesn’t know more about her secret organization. “They just think they’re in the right.”

“They’re a super dangerous organization,” adds Gero.

In a speed round with the panel moderator, Gero verified the following characters would return next season: Allison Knight (Trieste Kelly Dunn), Matthew Weitz (Aaron Abrams) and Rich Dotcom (Ennis Esmer). As far as Mayfair, who went missing last season, Gero was tightlipped.

Blindspot returns to NBC on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 10PM, then moves to a regular 8PM time slot the following Wednesday.
