‘Criminal Minds’: Paget Brewster To Return For Arc In Season 12

Popular former Criminal Minds cast member Paget Brewster is returning to the veteran CBS crime drama for multiple episodes during the upcoming 12th season. She will reprise her role as SSA Emily Prentiss, joining the BAU when they need her most, with the escape of 13 serial killers.

“We’re excited to have Paget Brewster back for multiple episodes in our 12th season,” said executive producer/showrunner Erica Messer. “The BAU can use more help this year since they’ve got a lot of known and unknown subjects to catch.”

Brewster, who became available after the end of her Fox comedy series Grandfathered, had been hinting at a possible Criminal Minds return and confirmed the news on Twitter today, in conjunction with the CBS announcement:

Brewster left Criminal Minds at the end of Season 7 in 2012 after six seasons on the show to pursue half-hour comedy, doing multiple pilots and series. She then returned for Criminal Minds‘ 200th episode during the 2013-14 season and again for an episode last season.

Criminal Minds’ 12th premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 9 PM. The series stars Joe Mantegna, Thomas Gibson, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness and new cast addition Adam Rodriguez, filling the void left with the departure of Shemar Moore. Mark Gordon, Erica Messer and Breen Frazier are executive producers for ABC Studios in association with CBS Television Studios.
