Ohio Doubles Its Film Incentives To $40 Million Per Year

Ohio is doubling down on its film tax incentives program, raising its annual incentives cap from $20 million to $40 million. The increase, which goes into effect at the end of September, makes it easier for larger-budget projects to qualify and eliminates the old program’s $5 million per project cap on tax credits.

Under the new program, all eligible expenditures will be credited at 30%. Previously, eligible expenses were credited at 25% to 35%.

“This is just one of many pieces falling into place to create hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars in positive economic impact for the region,” said John Daugherty, executive director of the Greater Columbus Film Commission.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich signed the bill into law late last month.
