CBS Hires Veteran 20th TV Exec To Head Domestic TV Distribution Arm


CBS is making changes in its distribution operations. Former 20th TV EVP Paul Franklin has been tapped as President of CBS Television Distribution, and with that hire, Armando Nuñez will return his focus to international distribution as President and CEO of CBS Studios International.

In his new role, Franklin will oversee all operations for CBS’ domestic syndication company, assuming oversight of a division that includes first-run syndicated franchises Judge Judy, Entertainment Tonight, Dr. Phil, Wheel Of Fortune and Jeopardy!. The division also provides a pipeline of top-rated, off-network programming from CBS Television Studios to the broadcast syndication market. Franklin reports to CBS Corp chairman and CEO Leslie Moonves.

Franklin exited 20th TV as part of the voluntary buyout offer. During his 10 years there, he served as EVP and General Sales Manager for 20th Television and MyNetworkTV. He was behind the syndication launches for numerous hit series, such as Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, Last Man Standing and Family Guy. He also helped establish the MyNetworkTV distribution system, programming strategy and brand identity for its 180 affiliates.

Nuñez is credited with building CSI and NCIS into global franchises, establishing local channel ventures with prominent media companies around the world, expanding the reach of Showtime programming and its brand across the globe, and monetizing CBS-owned content across a growing international multiplatform marketplace.
