‘Macy’s 4th Of July’ Ratings Spark To 3-Year High


NBC’s annual Macy’s 4th Of July Fireworks Spectacular (1.5/7 rating, 6.968 million total viewers) won the night overall in both demo and viewers among the Big 4 and the CW last night. The numbers in the key 18-49 demo and in viewership were the 8-10 PM special’s best in three years, with the demo up 50% compared and the viewers up 2 million compared with last year.

CBS’ competing Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular (0.8, 4.65M) ran from 9-11 PM. A one-hour replay of the Macy’s special (1.1, 4.6 million) aired at 10 PM. There were local pre-emptions for local fireworks coverage on each of the broadcast nets Monday night.

On a night of mostly repeats as networks shot off their sparklers, the finale of Fox’s Houdini & Doyle (0.4, 1.77M) was even with its last episode.
