‘BattleBots’ Ratings Down From 2015, ‘Big Brother’ Tops Night, ‘Bones’ Rises

Back for its seventh season last night, ABC’s BattleBots (1.0/4) took a big hit from its 2015 revival – and we’re bot talking about two robots smashing into each other kind of hit. The 2-hour mechanical competition show was down 47% among adults 18-49 from its 1-hour debut on the Disney-owned net on June 21, 2015 – a Sunday where BattleBots followed the series launch of a very strong Celebrity Family Feud. Last week, of course, ABC had Game 6 of the 2016 NBA Finals dominating the night.

Though down two-tenths from Wednesday’s Season 18 premiere and declining 19% from 2015’s Thursday debut, Big Brother (1.7/6) was the top-rated show of Thursday’s primetime this week. A The Big Bang Theory (1.4/6) encore was the most watched show of the night with 7.19 million tuning in. All of which delivered CBS the top net spot overall with a 1.2/5 rating and an audience of 5.03 million.

Not facing Lebron James or Stephen Curry or related programming, Fox’s Bones (0.9/4) and Home Free (0.5/2) were up 29% and down 16% in the key demo. The CW’s Beauty and the Beast (0.2/1) was even with its June 16 show.

After starting off with a Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge (0.6/3) repeat, NBC had a new version of the reality competition show at 9 PM (0.7/3), which took a 50% tumble from the show’s last original of June 20. The second week of the second season of Aquarius (0.4/2) saw the 10 PM David Duchovny-led series even with its 2-hour commercial free debut last week.
