‘Masterchef’ Grapples With ‘American Ninja Warrior’ Rerun For Wednesday Night’s Top Spot

In a Wednesday night heavy with repeats, Fox’s Masterchef cooked up broadcast’s top original-show ratings (1.2 demo rating, 4.2 million viewers) for the night. But a repeat of American Ninja Warrior (1.2  4.2M) tied it as the night’s top rated broadcast show in the demo, pushing NBC to a Wednesday win in all key measures in early Live+Same Day ratings.

NBC’s 10 PM The Night Shift original (1.0, 4.5M) was the night’s most watched broadcast show, inching up a tenth from last week.

Fox’s Wayward Pines (0.7, 2.5M), another rare broadcast original on the night, also inched up a tenth, week to week, to tie CBS’ Criminal Minds rerun (07, 4.3M) in the hour. They trailed NBC’s Ninja Warrior as well as ABC’s Modern Family (1.1, 3.9M)/Black-ish (0,9, 3.5M) pairing in the hour.

NBC (1.1, 4.3M) won Wednesday night among broadcasters networks. Fox (1.0, 3.4M) followed, edging out ABC’s all-repeat comedy lineup (0.9, 3.4M), and CBS (0.7, 4.2M). CW averaged a 0.2 rating in the demo, and 945K viewers, with repeats of Arrow (0.3, 1.1M) and Supernatural (0.7, 758K).
