Anderson Cooper Grills Florida AG Over Stance On Gay Community

Less than 24 hours after choking up while reading the names of all of the victims at the gay nightclub in Orlando, CNN’s Anderson Cooper grilled Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi about her role in what he called a fight against the LGBT community. Forty-nine people were killed early Sunday morning by a gunman who entered the Pulse nightclub and more than 53 were injured. Cooper is in Orlando as part of CNN’s team covering the aftermath.

Cooper said that, until now, he’d never heard her refer to LGBT people “in a positive way.” He kept reminding her she had argued against Florida recognizing gay marriages performed in other states, and had suggested doing so would “impose significant public harm” on Floridians.

It was awkward = great live TV.
