EXCLUSIVE: Imperative Entertainment has hired Jeff Roda to adapt the book The Guide: Managing Douchebags, Recruiting Wingmen and Attracting Who You Want with Sean Anders attached to direct and John Morris producing. Anders and Morris are huddling now on Daddy’s Home 2, the sequel to their 2015 box office hit comedy Daddy’s Home (which Anders directed and wrote with Morris). Daddy’s Home grossed a big $240.3M worldwide.

The book on which the new film is based was written by Rosalind Wiseman, the same author of Queen Bees and Wannabees which was the inspiration for the box office hit Mean Girls. Wiseman spoke to literally hundreds of adolescent boys across the nation in researching her book and basically offers them a guide to such pressing teen worldview questions as: How do you get a girl to take you seriously as possible romantic material? How should you react when getting made fun of?

Imperative partners Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas will produce as will Morris. Author Wiseman will exec produce.

Black List writer Roda recently scripted When I’m Sixty-Four, a half-hour dramedy pilot for HBO which Howie Deutch will direct and executive produce.

Imperative’s VP of Content Jillian Apfelbaum will oversee and co-produce and the production company’s newly minted creative executive Jasmine Daghighian will associate produce.

Roda and Wiseman are both repped by Verve. Anders and Morris are repped by UTA and Mosaic.
