‘Fruitvale Station’s’ Ephraim Walker Named President Of D Street Pictures

Ephraim Walker, who worked closely with Ryan Coogler in developing the powerful film Fruitvale Station, has been named president of production of independent production and distribution company D Street Media Group overseeing the company’s film projects and production unit. The West Coast office will be set in Oakland where Fruitvale‘s story originated and where it was filmed.

The company has chosen Oakland over Los Angeles, they said, to be in close proximity to the Silicon Valley as it wants to develop more strategic alliances with tech companies who are producing new distribution models for film and television. The company is based in New York City, with offices in Berlin, Buenos Aires and Cape Town.

Since Fruitvale, Walker has worked on various TV shows and produced a behind-the-scenes look at the scoring of the 2015 Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone hit Creed, also directed by Coogler.

Walker will report to D Street Media Group’s CEO, Dexter Davis. His appointment comes at a time when the company itself is expanding its reach internationally. Walker will hit the ground running on several upcoming productions including the international heist film, The Blue Mauritius, starring Eric Dane, Brian Cox, Augustus Prew, John Rhys-Davies. Filming begins on location in Cape Town, South Africa in August. Walker will next move to the Irish comedy, Death Inc., a Brazilian motorcycle gang movie, Moto Anjos and a New York City style rom-com, Heaven Hath No Fury.
