UPDATED, June 13, 11:25 AM, with L+3 ratings:  Lifetime’s UnReal season debut audience more than doubled, to 1M total viewers and 622K viewers in the key 18-49 demographic, with today’s release of L+3 viewing.

Among other ratings gains, the season starter jumped 124% among adults 18-34 (314,000) and 128% in adults 25-54 (589K).

On June 6, Lifetime’s UnReal  opened its second season with 497K viewers tuned at 10 PM, off a fourth-season Devious Maids debut lead-in of 1.08 million viewers. In the demo, UnReal logged a 0.2 rating which translated to 270K viewers ages 18-49, behind its Devious Maids lead-in (0.3, 439K).

That was down compared to previous June, when a Devious Maids lead-in of 1.47M viewers at 9 PM fueled the unveiling of the network’s Bachelor-esque UnReal, which hung on to  815K viewers.

Across its first season, UnReal had dipped as low as 565K total viewers but wound up with a finale crowd of 790K. Demo-wise, the series opened last season with 363K viewers aged 18-49 and ended the season better than that, 384K demo viewers.

UnReal, a fictitious-but-based-on-experience behind-the-scenes look at a competition dating series called Everlasting, known for its pillar candles, roses and hot canoodling women, is based on Sarah Gertrude Shapiro’s award-winning independent short film Sequin Raze. It’s created by Marti Noxon and Shapiro, a former producer of ABC’s The Bachelor.
