Stanley Cup Final Game 5 Ratings Climb For NBC

NBC Sports’ coverage of Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final scored a household 3.6 ratings in the 56 metered markets, which are time zone adjusted. The San Jose Sharks’ win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on NBC saw a 16% hike versus Game 4 on Monday night and 33% versus Game 1 on May 30.

The Sharks’ Game 5 win on NBC is up +16% versus Game 4 on NBC Monday night in metered-market households (3.6 vs. 3.1) and up +33% versus Game 1 on NBC on Monday, May 30 (3.6 vs. 2.7).

Fast affiliate ratings, which are not time-zone adjusted, show the game, which aired live across the country, ranking No. 1 from 8-11 PM in adults, men and women 18-49, and in adults and men 25-54.

NBC’s Stanley Cup Final coverage is expected to go up about 0.2 in 18-49 and enough in total viewers to challenge CBS for the top spot in total viewers.


Meanwhile, Fox’s American Grit ticked up for its season wrapper, clocked a Live+Same Day 0.7 in fast nationals, and 2.16M viewers. But it got outstripped by hockey on NBC and repeat programming on ABC and CBS, at 8 and at 9 PM. In mid-April, American Grit premiered at a 0.8 for its 9 PM premiere, with an average of 2.4 million total viewers.
