Uncork’d Finds ‘The Shelter’; Production Wraps On ‘The Archer’ As Cast Unveiled

Exclusive: Uncork’d Entertainment has acquired US and Canadian rights to John Fallon’s survival horror pic The Shelter, with plans for theatrical and digital release this fall. Starring Michael Paré (Eddie and the Cruisers, The Virgin Suicides), the story follows widower and homeless man Thomas Jacobs (Paré), who finds shelter for the night when he discovers a vast two-story house with the lights on and the front door open. Thinking he just caught a lucky break, it soon becomes apparent that the house won’t let him leave, as the doors and windows lock, and turn out to be unbreakable. The question of why he’s there and what fate has in store becomes linked to a quest to survive.

The Shelter tells a great and painful tragedy, not about global disaster or war or economic collapse but of the individual human heart,” said Paré about the role. “The human heart and soul is what all art seeks to unravel. Guilt, regret and shame kill the heart and soul. When our lower animal nature dominates our character our soul is lost.” Fallon wrote and directed The Shelter, and produced alongside Donny Broussard with Bruise Productions and JoBlo Movie Productions executive producing. Visual effects were created by Thomas Wilson (Insidious, The Conjuring), with Holbrook Multi Media completing the production and post-production elements.

Production has wrapped on the feminist, coming of age action pic The Archer, from director Valerie Weiss (A Light Beneath Their Feet). Starring Bill Sage (Hap and Leonard), Bailey Noble (True Blood) and Jeanine Mason (Of Kings and Prophets), the film follows a young competitive archer (Noble) sent to a girls reform camp, who escapes the corrupt prison with the help of a provocative new friend. Michael Grant Terry (Bones), Kurt Fuller (The Good Wife) and Dendrie Taylor (The Fighter) also appear.

Shot on location in Idyllwild, CA, The Archer was written by Casey Schroen and produced by Ruth Du; it’s executive produced by Fernando Szew and Hannah Pillemer for Mar Vista Entertainment. Sage is repped by INSURGE-Ent and Ellipsis Entertainment Group. Noble is repped by Don Buchwald & Associates and Principato-Young Entertainment.
