Turner Veteran Lillah McCarthy Named Head Of TV For Allison Shearmur Prods.

Lillah McCarthy, a 12-year veteran of TNT and TBS, has joined Allison Shearmur Productions as head of its television operations under the company’s first-look deal with Lionsgate Television.

Allison Shearmur Prods, in association with Lionsgate Television, is executive producing the three-hour ABC event musical Dirty Dancingan adaptation of the 1987 hit romantic drama.

McCarthy most recently served as SVP Original Programming for TNT until departing in August, several months after the network and TBS’ programming teams were reorganized by Kevin Reilly, with Sarah Aubrey and Brett Weitz at the helm of TNT and TBS, respectively. During her tenure at TNT and TBS, McCarthy developed such series as TNT’s The Closer, Falling Skies, Leverage Rizzoli & Isles, and The Last Ship. Her scripted and unscripted development for TBS included comedy My Boys, sitcoms Men at Work and Sullivan & Son and reality series King of the Nerds and Deal With It.

Prior to her years at TBS and TNT, McCarthy was the executive producer of the CBS series Early Edition. Before producing, McCarthy held executive positions at two networks: ABC, as a current executive, and at Fox, as SVP Series Programming.

On the feature film side, Shearmur is producing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and executive producing Power Rangers, Lionsgate’s adaptation of the long-running television franchise. She also is producing the forthcoming thriller Nerve, starring Dave Franco and Emma Roberts.
