Jeff Daniels, Scoot McNairy In Talks To Board Scott Frank’s ‘Godless’

EXCLUSIVE: Jeff Daniels and Scoot McNairy are in talks to board Scott Frank’s Godless for Netflix, joining the previously announced Jack O’Connell. The project is a limited period drama series from the Out of Sight duo of Steven Soderbergh and Scott Frank.

Written, directed and executive produced by Frank, Godless is a Western set in an 1800s New Mexico mining town. The project, which is currently casting, is set to film in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Soderbergh and Frank are executive producing alongside Casey Silver.

Frank earned an Oscar nomination for his feature adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s novel into the 1998 movie Out of Sight, which was directed by Soderbergh.

SoderberghSteven Soderbergh is executive producer/director of Cinemax’s The Knick, whose second season recently ended. He also is slated to direct Hillbilly Heist with Michael Shannon and Channing Tatum set as leads. It’s expected to start shooting in the fall. In addition, Soderbergh has movie Mosaic, starring Sharon Stone, set at HBO. Frank’s screenwriting credits include Minority Report, Get Shorty, The Wolverine and most recently A Walk Among The Tombstones, which he also directed.

Jeff Daniels is coming off the back of some nice characters turns in Ridley Scott’s The Martian and Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs. He will also return for the final installkment of the Divergent series with Ascendant. He is repped by ICM Partners.

McNairy recently starred in AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire, and had a role in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. He has David Michod’s War Machine opposite Brad Pitt in the pipelines, as well as Arnold Schwarzenegger-starrer 478, Baran bo Odar’s Sleepless with Jamie Foxx and Michelle Monaghan and Jody Hill’s The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter with Josh Brolin and Danny McBride all in post.  He is repped by WME and the Group Management.
